The brothers

The year is 1975. The two brothers, Svenn and Geir Bekken, return home to Frøya after gaining valuable work experience. At the time, Svenn was head waiter at the Grand Hotel in Harstad, and Geir was chef at Hotel Prinsen in Trondheim. The two founded a company on a 50/50 shareholding basis and bought Havheim Guest House on 1 January 1976, the day Geir's daughter was born. She took over as general manager of what eventually became Hotell Frøya in 2002.

Entrepreneurial spirit

Sinkaberg is a fully integrated seafood company with facilities along the coast of Trøndelag and Helgeland. Smolt production takes place in Bindal and Nærøysund. Sinkaberg originated from Sinkaberg Fisk (established in 1977) and Bindalssmolt (established in 1985) by founders Finn W. Sinkaberg and Bjørn Berg-Hansen. In March 2023, the Berg-Hansen family sold their approximately 44 percent share in the company to Bewi Invest, which then became the new major shareholder. In June 2024, the group changed its name from SinkabergHansen to Sinkaberg.

Creates value for society and owners

We will never forget where we come from. It defines the attitudes and values of the entire BEWI family. We are responsible, proud, stable and quality-conscious. These are our values. They are literally set in stone in Hammarvika – where it all started.

Everything we create, we create together

Today, we are proud and dedicated owners of companies across several countries, primarily in the Nordic region and along the central coast of Norway. While our competitive spirits remain strong, and we still produce fish boxes, they represent only a tiny fraction of our turnover.
